September 2022 Sprucing in the Home
Sep 13, 2022
Many mothers stress about the state of their teenager!s bedroom. I know I used to leave clothes lying around and when I was younger toys. Some teenagers even leave dirty dishes or take away containers in their rooms particularly under the bed.
While we can understand this behaviour when a person is ill really there is no excuse for it under normal circumstances. What we suggest is talking to your teenager about The Spruce Initiative. If your teenager gets in the habit of picking up just one item and putting it away your teenager’s bedroom will be tidy in no time.
This could be a piece of clothing put in the laundry basket or hung in the closet. It could be a school book put on a bookshelf or a plate taken to the kitchen. Of course the first thing to go should be fast food containers. If your teenager has a rubbish bin that should be emptied.
Of course once your teenager embarks on the Spruce Initiative they should be encouraged not to leave any further messes. We are sure that when your teenager finally has a clean and tidy room they will enjoy it so much that they will continue to Spruce. Even younger children can be taught to Spruce their bedrooms. By keeping the task manageable it becomes fun rather than an onerous chore. I spruced my home recently and I was delighted to find all sorts of hidden treasures like books to read, cards to send and toys that I had forgotten about.
Any room in the home can be Spruced. If you have a study or office that is messy you can use the principles of Sprucing to clean up the mess. Just one piece a day can make a huge difference.
We will freely admit that once you start Sprucing it is hard to stop. And this just means that the mess gets tidied up even quicker. However the principle of picking up just one piece of mess a day can transform your entire home.
Many people who are tired at the end of a day may have a few things lying around but it feels over whealming to tidy them up. Just Spruce and the mess will be gone in no time.
If you practise Sprucing you will find your life is soon in order and you will find you are able to relax more in your space. How hard can it be to pick up just one thing?
Don’t be nervous about inviting visitors to your home because it is messy. Spruce and you will be proud of your space.
Small spaces where space is at a premium can be particularly helped by sprucing. Clear your clutter just one piece at a time and enjoy the benefits.
Teach your family, especially your teenagers, to pick up just one item a day. You will reap the benefits of a tidy home in no time.
Remember one piece a day sends the rubbish away. Don’t just clean. Let’s Spruce!
Cheers, Felicity
Clean and green is our motto. Remember: one piece a day sends the rubbish away! Don’t just clean let’s Spruce.
