Cleaning Bees and why Sprucing is Important
Cleaning Bees and why Sprucing is Important
Sep 16, 2024
This month the Spruce Initiative advocates supporting the Clean Up the World Movement in assisting communities with their annual cleaning bees and other methods to clean and green our environments. The Clean Up the World Movement was started in the southern hemisphere by Ian Kieran. We imagine it was based on the model of spring cleaning. It is important in life to be in harmony with the seasons.
In the northern hemisphere Clean Up the World is in fall and is a preparation for the holiday season. It also falls at the start of the school year in America and is a way of getting back to work and making our environment liveable.
Cleaning the environment is the first step towards making the environment healthy for humans, wildlife and Nature. Just as we need to clean a pot to cook our dinner we need to clean the environment of rubbish and pollutants before we can restore our human and wildlife habitats.
If rubbish isn’t picked up daily it accumulates which necessitates cleaning bees. If enough people followed the Spruce Initiative and joined the Spruce Initiative and were prepared to pick up one piece of rubbish day when they are out doing something healthy (your daily walk) the problem of accumulated rubbish would go away and cleaning bees would become unnecessary. Then we could concentrate on Sprucing our environment.
The Spruce Initative is a sustainable strategy. We practise being good citizens of our neighbourhoods, locally and of the world by investing in personal responsibility for a sustainable environment. We become custodians of our environment.
We encourag you to take personal responsibility for creating a sustainable environment. Clean and Green is our motto. By adopting a clean and green strategy we become part of the solution instead of part of the problem.. Be prepared to pick up one piece of rubbish when you are out on your daily walk and to plant one tree a year to give back to Nature and help keep our ecosystems sustainable.
We are all aware of the importance of clean and healthy wildlife environments are. Let’s remember our built up human environments also need to be clean and healthy. Wether you clean and green in the country, wildlife areas or the city you are making our environments more sustainable and liveable.
We need to get serious about the environmental impact our human habitation has on our world environment. We need to start creating a sustainable world ecosystem and this starts by taking personal responsibility for a clean and green planet.
Willingness to pick up one piece of rubbish a day and plant one tree a year is something within everyone’s ability to do. And just the one helps. If enough people are willing to do this much, the problem of rubbish and the denudation of our forests and native wildlife habitat goes away. Clean and green is the first step to a sustainable world.
At the Spruce Initiative we encourage you to take these first steps towards creating a sustainable environment. When we practise with the Spruce Initiative we are learning to be aware of our environment and to pay attention. It trains our minds as well as beautifying our evnironments.
Remember one piece a day sends the rubbish a day. Don’t just clean let’s Spruce.
Cheers, Felicity
